JESUS AND THE DEVIL ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL (a play)
– comedy/political satire
We are in the last few months of the electoral race for governor in the Swamp Lily State, a state much like Louisiana. Incumbent King-Fish Democrat Governor Willie Boudreaux Pavy, a shoo-in at the start of the race, finds himself now a few points behind a newly added independent candidate, Jesus Christ, the Lord himself. In third place is GOP candidate Bernie Grosjean, sponsored by corporate money from the Burton-Dunbar Corporation. To guarantee a push to the top and certain victory, Sidney Dunbar, BDC’s CEO, hires Bel Zebeaux, the Devil, as a political strategist for the Republican ticket. It will then take Willie and his political wiz, Harvey Cook, all the politicking up their sleeves to beat Jesus and the Devil on the campaign trail.
THIS SIDE OF LINCOLN (a screenplay)
– comedy
The scene is Venice, California; the furthest west one can get before falling into the ocean. This is where Danny Rush, the beach bum and front man of a Doors tribute band joins up with Fred Bilbo, a Hunter Thompson-type writer obsessed with a vengeance-seeking duck. Their mission is to find the missing loot of a heist gone wrong some sixty years ago. While Fred is more interested in the story he can write as opposed to the treasure itself, Danny is fueled by the fact that Molly, the woman he wants, has had it with L.A. and will leave forever unless she lands a rich man. While being tailed by a has-been football player and avoiding a Jim Morrison-fanatic eccentric girl, Danny will gather clues and collide with a series of unusual characters in a Chandler-esque plot with the same comedic punch of The Big Lebowski.
GAMES THEY PLAY (a screenplay)
– Thriller/Drama
A husband and wife in love, an intruder and a murder plot. An intricate love story between an emasculating wife and her disappointing husband, who is, however, planning to murder her the very same night this huis-clos is unfolding before the eyes of a third-party intruder. Nested between Who’s afraid of Virginia Wolf and Bitter Moon, Games they play is a thrilling psychological drama that explores the thin line separating love and hate, marriage and dissolution, life and death.
BANK! (a screenplay)
- Comedy
Downtown Los Angeles, Summer of 1937. The day before the heist, Eliot Gillis (the police detective), Charlie Doyle (the newspaper reporter) and Polly Mikola (the Greek barber) are still working the last details for their plan to rob First Federal Central Bank.
MAC, BETH AND SUPERMAN (a screenplay)
- Comedy
Mac moves into his uncle’s apartment in Brooklyn, just to become infatuated with Beth, his neighbor’s wife, and be seduced by the couple into helping them rob the mafia.
A PRETTY GIRL AND A GUN (a screenplay)
- Comedy
A road trip from L.A. to Las Vegas, where chance proves to be the real engine behind falling in love. As Jean Luc Godard once said: “The only thing you need to make a movie is a pretty girl and a gun.”
THAT HAPPENS (a short film/1995)
– Comedy
Albert Camus once declared that “the important thing isn’t getting cured, but to live with one’s ailments.” A man returns home from grocery shopping to find someone else living in his apartment, apparently for the last ten years. That Happens is a 20min B/W film shot in 16mm; a Kafkaesque tale about learning to roll with the punches.
